Autoimmune Diseases

In 2001, women military personals who received the anthrax vaccine said that they were subsequently besieged by autoimmune disease. The women blamed the anthrax vaccine because of the long term side effects.

In the research studies, the anthrax vaccine has proven safe with no more side effects than any other vaccine. Dr. Tom Waytes , vice president of medical affairs at Bioport, the manufacturer of the anthrax vaccine performed this study.

Dr. Tom said that this has become the most thoroughly studied vaccine in history. There have been 18 studies looking into the safety of anthrax vaccine. Institue of Medicine involves in presenting and reviewing some very prestigious scientific groups.

The final result is always the same: The anthrax vaccine is safe to use.

Military began implementing the anthrax vaccine for 520.000 personnel

The military began implementing the anthrax vaccine in 1998. 520.000 personnel have received the shots since the program started. Only 0,3 percent (1.600) personnel have reported adverse reactions toward anthrax vaccine. The anthrax side effects that were reported is only a mild side effect such as rashes or swelling at the injection site.

Sheila Weller, senior contributing editor for Self magazine said that she spoke to or examined the record of a dozen military women who were healthy before the anthrax vaccine immunization they took. They got symptoms within weeks, sometimes days. And the symptoms were all autoimmune in nature. It means that they were linked to the family disease history such as lupus and multiple sclerosis. Those diseases is an autoimmune disease which the immune system attacks the body.

There is an explanation about the women got autoimmune disease. Normally, women get it 75% more often than men.

According to Pentagon records have shown that women do experience more temporary side effects from the anthrax vaccine. Women make up only 12 % of anthrax recipients (the military is about 85% male), but they make up 26% of adverse-effect sufferers.

What did the doctors say?

Enoch, one of the women, told her doctor about her condition, but the doctor said she was just stressed, and depressed about being away from home. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a syndrome distinguished by chronic pain in the muscles, ligaments, tendons, or areas around the joints right after 5 months later.

Another doctor diagnose her with lupus, a type of immune system disorder where the immune system attack the body, rather than protecting it. Both fibromyalgia and lupus are autoimmune disease.

She claimed that she was in pain, chronic fatigue, concentration problems and memory loss. Then she linked her illness to the anthrax vaccine long term side effects. Just like the others.

Enoch said “I was healthy and active, absolutely, prior to that third shot. And when I came back from Kuwait, it was literally as if I was a whole different person. Finding the energy to even clean my house after that was a task in itself.”

Is this just a coincidence?

Waytes said that he understand where some of those people may believe that their chronic illness were caused by the anthrax vaccine. However, if one looks at the medical and scientific data accumulated to date, it just doesn’t support that.

Weller also said that he don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not. But if there is a coincidence, they are starting ones.
